Planning Your Stay

A week at the cottage gives you time to explore thoroughly. Most guests combine walking or cycling in the Wolds with day trips to Beverley, the coast, and one or two of the area's country houses. For a shorter break, pick two or three highlights from the guides and build your days around those.

What is there to do near Yorkshire Wolds Cottage?

The area offers excellent walking and cycling in the Yorkshire Wolds, the historic market town of Beverley, the coast at Bridlington and Flamborough, country houses such as Burton Agnes Hall and Sledmere, birdwatching at Bempton Cliffs, and the cities of York and Hull within 40 minutes' drive.

Is East Yorkshire good for walking?

Yes. The Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail passes nearby, and the area has extensive networks of footpaths and bridleways across rolling chalk downland. The walking is relatively gentle compared to the Dales, with long views and very few other walkers.

Can I visit the coast from the cottage?

Yes. Bridlington and Flamborough Head are about 20 miles east, roughly 30 minutes by car. The Holderness coast, Hornsea, and Spurn Point are also within easy reach for day trips.
